This appears that it may be just overload by youre "near stationn" 
sometimes overload can virtually kill a reciever. I had a similar 
problem with a VERY strong siignal, and complained to the other statioin 
that he was splattering. I then found out that he was a new nieghbor  
1/2 block away. I attenuated hius signal, ands every thing was OK.
