[Yaesu] Charging a new battery for VX5R

Got a new battery for the HT.  Plugged in the wall charger and the expected
message ³now charging² shows on screen. Later (not sure how much later) the
message ³charge error² instead of the usual ³charge complete² shows up.
Query the battery charge function and it states 7.2 volts ­ radio seems to
have received a charge, jut not sure how complete or why the error keeps
showing up.

Yaesu said first to just ³disconnect and then re-connect² the wall wart
which I did and it accomplished nothing.

Any one with similar problems and/or solutions?
