I've come across references to sources for the (slightly uncommon)
4 conductor plug for a VX-150. I think they are similar, but may not be
identical. The VX-150 does not use a "threaded retainer."

The reference says you might need to trim off the plastic sleeve off the
Maplin plug because it gets in the way and might stop the plug from seating
fully. (That is probably what the "threaded retainer" is designed to fix.)
Another possibility is to take a Yaesu CT-91 (speaker/mic adapter) or CT-27
(clone cable) and cut one end off. If Yaesu has versions of these with a
threaded retainer plug made for the -170, that might work.
