[Yaesu] my problem

Well, the FT-1000D that I bought 2 months ago has developed a 
problem. My research on the web shows this exact problem with a 900 
and a 920 over the years.

The radio is just fine over 7.5 mHz EXACTLY. Once I tune below 
7.5000, the display flashes on and off every 2 or 3 seconds, with an 
audible click (like a relay noise).

Although I found the problem on the web, I didn't find any solutions. 
One guy thought the battery was the issue, but the memories all hold.

I really don't want to ship 65 pounds from NJ to CA and back again.

Any suggestions?
