[Yaesu] CAT problem with FT-747GX

I have a note in my files on the FT-747 that says:

"Early Yaesu CAT would take Freq and mode from PC but not report to PC"

Does anyone know if this is true for the 747, and, if so, the  serial 
number ranges? My notes don't give me the source of this information.
I know that mine is getting signals from the PC, but I see no answers 
to the PC.

I am using Logger32 and linking to the rig through a USB-to-serial 
adapter on one end and translating the TTL-to-serial signal level at 
the rig end through a "Tini CAT"  adapter. The USB adapter has signal 
lights that indicate when a signal is sent. These "Blinks" work in 
time with the polling frequency, and change rate as I change the 
polling rate. The rig display indicates that it knows that a 
CAT  signal is coming in.

ANY help, comments, hints or clues will be appreciated.
