I don't have this radio, but it sounds like it might possibly be a problem with the
RX mode selection. You sure it reads W-FM ? My VX-5R sounds terrible in
the broadcast FM band if it's not in W-FM mode. :-)
Just trying to help... otherwise, it might be like the FT-50, which will also
receive wide FM but it sounds lousy because it won't switch out of narrow
FM mode. Good luck!
