[Yaesu] FM broadcasts on VX3R

Just got a brand new VX3R in yesterday, and like the features on it-with one
disappointing exception: The FM broadcast band reception seems really lousy.
Has any other VX3R owners noticed this, or did I just get a bad one.  It
seems to pick up stations much worse than the VX2R does.  One station I
listen to which is full scale on all other HTs is 1/3 to 1/2 scale on the
VX3R and will get scratchy if you move it the wrong way (this never happened
on the 2R, it was full scale).  Other stations aren't picked up at all.

Anyone else notice this problem?  One reviewer mentioned this on an eham.net
review, but other reviews say how great the receiver is on it.  Guess I got
bit by the Yaesu beta test bug.
