    I wouldn't ever ship anything of value or any kind of fragility
through UPS.  I used to fly relief trips for them and been to their
sort centers.  It's horrific.  I've done a lot of Ebay work and
shipped thousands of delicate items through Fedex Ground and have had
zero problems.  They cost considerably less than UPS and treat the
packages much better.   There was a day (many years ago) that UPS
treated packages like gold and fired employees who mistreated them. 
Those days are long gone.
