The dark colored FT-107's were sold in Europe in the early 80's. I was
living in the UK in 1981 (G5DEH) and bought an entire FT-107 line (long
since gone), it was an impressive looking setup if you remember the ads
back then for the 107 line which included transverters, etc...It was a
very good radio for it's time.

There is a gentleman on QTH.COM right now selling a black faced Yaesu
FT107M. I have never seen one of these before, only the white faced
ones.  How did one get a black faced FT107M?  Was it the very last
production model?  Or maybe the first production?  Or an option?  ALso,
what is the FT107 like as a radio?  I have always been interested in
this model.
