The FT-980 followed the FT-One and they basically look the same. There was
no specific radio to replace the FT-980.
Yaesu then produced the 747-757-767-series and later the FT-1000, with the
FT-990 as a scaled down FT-1000, but not as good as the FT-1000.
The RigPix website is a good resource for historic information and offers
the basic specifications of the radios and their first release date.
