[Yaesu] CAT interface FT1000 vs. FT857

Hi all,
Trying to assist a fellow ham who is trying to get his FT-1000MP up and 
running with a rig control software.
I'm using the same rig control with my FT-857 but not sure if the rig 
interface is operating with the same setup.

Anyone here using e.g. the EasyLog logging software/rig control together 
with an FT-1000MP?
Or anyone who knows if there are any major differences in the basic 
setup, bit/byte order, etc if comparing the 1000 and 857? I know that 
there are CAT command differences, but we are talking basic config, 
before starting to push commands.
