[Yaesu] FT-897D question

Thanks for the replies. I have never been real happy with the "low
tolerance" of the FC-30. I should have read more about it before taking the
plunge. Anyway, after reading up on the AT-897, I ordered one. Also,
according to the folks at W4RT, the One touch tune unit is no longer
necessary. I guess there is an "undocumented" feature that has been
discovered. There is now what sounded like a special CAT cable that, with
the proper configuration of the radio, will control all of the functions
that the one touch tune unit did.

Mine should be here in a few days, so I'll be able to give it a whirl.

Anyone want to buy a FC-30?

Just FYI-

I have been very pleased with the LDG AT-897 tuner/W4RT One Touch Tune combo

, used with my FT-857. It will handle a full 10:1 SWR, while the FC-30 will

handle 3:1 max.

As far as power, the combo does not appear to decrease the power output of
the FT-857 during tuning. I just checked it with a power meter. It would
require grounding the Brown wire to drop power output as Deon said below, or

changing the power output in the menu.
