[Yaesu] FR101 S meter bulb replacement??

Like you, I think it's probably the same as the FT-101. If so, you
don't have to remove the S-Meter. Just remove the case; if your
fingers are small you might be able to change the bayonet base bulb
above the meter without additional tools. At worst a Philips head
screwdriver is needed to loosen the single mounting screw for the
socket until you can easily get hold of the bulb.
Some people probably would leave the case on, reach under the flange
and take out the screw that way. That will save time if you don't
drop the screw and do manage to get it started straight.
I use the lowest wattage bulb that will work and turn the socket
upward as much as possible to avoid melting the meter case.
The bulb for the tuning dial is done the same way.
The bulb that's the challenge is the one for the dial pointer. That
one is between the bezel and the panel and can only be changed by
removing the bezel -- two screws on backside at ends plus the rotary
switch knob and nut if I remember rightly. You have to
unsolder/resolder the leads. The good news is that Radio Shack had
a suitable replacement the last time I looked.
