I have a 220 module for the FT-736 which had it's finals blown up at Field Day a couple of years ago by a new operator...they'd put the antenna on the wrong band connector on the back of the radio...I'm wondering if anyone has any information as to if it's worth having the finals replaced in the module -vs- buying a new module.
I talked with Yaesu a few weeks ago, and was told a new module was in the neighborhood of $450.00...
At this point, I'm in a position that I really don't NEED the module due to the fact that I already have the radio "Loaded" with the optional 6M and 1.2Ghz modules...
thereby not leaving me any room in the radio for the 220 module. If I got mine fixed, or bought a new one, I would essentially have it for a "Spare" band for possible use at a later date.
However, with the price of a new unit being what it is, I think I might just be able to find (on E-Bay?) a nice 220 all mode radio for less than what a new module costs.
Any ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated from the group!
Thanks for your input gentlemen (and ladies too of course!)
I'll look forward to hearing from you.
Take Care,
