Excellent recommendation!

My favorite rigs are the FT-1000D and the IC-775DSP.

IMHO rigs from the 90's like the 1000D and 775DSP were real quality with 
excellent sounding (analoge) receivers.

In my 1000D I use Inrad filters (2.8, 2.1, 500 and 250 Hz) with an 
external Timewave DSP-599zx. A joy to use and to listen to, even for 
many hours.
