[Yaesu] FT900 filter help

Thanks for all of the replies so far. However, I think I'm still
stumped. It would appear the filter should be doing much more than it
is. I had a Kenwood 850 from the same era and I remember just having a
single 500hz filter in it making a world of difference - something I'm not
seeing in this one.
Is there a switch that needs flipped, a menu setting or something to tell
the radio the CW filter is installed? The manual doesn't mention anything,
but in all of my other radios I had to "tell" it that the filter was installed.
This one has me stumped. Perhaps the filter is bad, who knows. I guess
the only way to test that theory is to try a different one. Anybody have a
spare XF110N (I think that's it) laying around they would like to part with?
