[Yaesu] FT1000D sub receiver problem, need help.

Hi Maury -

I'm sorry to hear that your uncle is SK; but you are fortunate
to receive a very fine rig like the 1000D!

I hope you also received an operator's manual with the rig.
If you did, you should read what it has to say about the two
receivers. If you didn't, you should order one from Vertex
ASAP. The last time I checked, they were still available.

The first things to check are (1) have you selected Dual
mode with the PB below the keypad, and and (2) is the
RX Mix knob left of the main tuning set to about 12:00?
If yes to both, then you should hear both receivers.

But there are some really funky details about how the
inputs of the two receivers are connected, depending on
internal switches and the rear-panel input switches.
Many think Yaesu messed up the design on this switching,
and have proposed user mod's to straighten out some of
the problems. I'm not brave enough to try to explain all
of that; but it shouldn't be hard to find on the net, if you're
interested.

BTW, I experienced a legitimate failure of the rear-panel
input module that disabled my sub-receiver until the input
module was replaced.

the display changes. I have checked the antenna connections through to the
2nd receiver board and they are working. It's on the same band as the main
receiver and there is the same level of back round noise. I did a processor
reboot and no change.
