Andy,
The FT-920 is a very good radio. I just bought one of the last ones
available new -- made in late 2003.
The radio has provisions for a Narrow CW Filter with only a 500 Hz unit
being available from Yaesu. INRAD has others, however. When the narrow
filter is installed, "Wide" is the SSB Filter and "Narrow" is the 500 Hz (or
whatever you install) unit. "Narrow" is selected with a dedicated button on
the front panel. That same filter also works in Data modes.
INRAD makes and markets some additional circuit assemblies for the FT-920
that really enhance filter selection and flexibility. You might also check
out their web site for details.
