Per "The Yaesu Book," Number 4, published by Yaesu and revised in May, 1996,
there are three different mod procedures for the FT-530, with each mod covering
a certain serial number range.

The "remove jumper 13" mod covers radios in the s/n range from xx14xxxx through
xx23xxxx. If yours is not in that range, the mod is different.

Here are all three mods from that publication:

  For s/n xx14xxxx through xx23xxxx

    - Remove the solder from jumper pad 13
    - Press and hold the up and down arrow keys while tuning on the radio

  For s/n xx24xxxx through xx30xxxx

    - Cut the green wire that jumpers the two halves of pad 13
    - Press and hold the up and down arrow keys while tuning on the radio

  For s/n xx33xxxx through xx43xxxx

    - Remove the solder from jumper pads 1 and 3
    - Cut the green wire that jumpers the two halves of pad 13
    - Add jumpers to pads 4 and 5 (pads 4,5,6,8,11,15 should now be jumpered)
    - Press and hold the up and down arrow keys while tuning on the radio

Hope this helps.
