[Yaesu] FT-8100R dying?

My 8100 seems to die only on the left (2m) side.  I hear what sounds
like motorboating in the receiver, and then that side is dead.  I can
neither hear anything or transmit.  When I repower, all functions
return.  It seems to be more related to just having turned on the rig or
the temperture in the car.  After 10-15 minutes, the rig seems to be
fine until the next time I turn the rig on.  Has anybody else
experienced this and cured the problem?
