The FT-890 has the same RF sections as the FT-900 and the FT-900 also does
not have the tuner in line with the receiver. Suggest that if you want
additional
filtering in front of the radio that you go to something external. The
internal tuners,
in these radios, are quite broad and shouldn't offer the receiver much
protection.
Also, the 890's and 900's don't do well in a high RF environment. I suspect
you
have found that out. I used my FT-900 with a next door neighbor, running a
full
gallon, and had no problem, but had an old Johnson Matchbox ahead of the
radio. It was OK as long as we were on different bands.
