Indeed. As I believe I mentioned, however, the phenomenon manifests itself
when operating into a dummy load as well as into the antenna.

Not the case with my Alpha 87A, which looks more or less like 50ohms
resistive on all bands except 28MHz where there is a small amount of Xc.
Both the '990 and the 1KD transmit perfectly happily into this amplifier
with or without the auto ATU in circuit. However, the 1KD does not deliver
the set power with the ATU in circuit unless it is re-tuned.
Thank you for your reply, but I believe there is a little more to this
problem than mere mismatching.
