[Yaesu] Turning off strobe on VX-7R

I just got a VX-7R in, and all I can say is "WOW!"  I
love this HT already.  I do have one question, though.
 Is there a way to turn off the strobe light on
transmit?  THe manual is clear on how to turn it off
for receive, and that works fine, but I would also
like to turn it off while transmitting, to save
battery life.  After all, I know I am transmitting
because I am pushing the PTT button.
