They are supposed to be permanent...but if the NSTC station chooses,
when they drop their NSTC operations, they can choose to return the
channel OR move their DTV operations there (IF Ch 51 and below)...I
doubt many will as the cost is prohibitive...(I didn't mention a
transition channel did I?)....the Channel 5 here in Houston was newly
assigned to KPXB for DTV operations....I'm sure PAX will not give that
one up and keep 49 ;)
Besides, what about lowband 2way radio in the 30-50 Mhz and 72-76 MHz
spectrum (guess the FCC expects them to go to 700 or Nextel? ;) ....plus
the AMA has said "NO to BPL" as R/C models in the 72-76 AND the 50/53
MHz bands will be affected....we aint seen nothing yet in screaming....<g>
The ~80MHz is just an approximation (harmonics could go higher in some
cases)
If its worse than normal static at 45-65 MHz (the worse spot in the
spectrum for static noise), its bye bye radio...ham, cordless
telephones, kiddie talkies, etc etc...No NB (even one in a Yaesu...whew!
had to get that in somehow! :) will get rid of the noise...
