[Yaesu] FT-847 ARS Fix..

That's a simple problem!  I have an FT-847 here myself that I bought =
used
and had the exact same problem.  When tuning up and down the band the =
ARS
appears to be non-functional.  The repair is simple, undo the MARS/CAP =
mod
on the radio.  The MARS/CAP mod removes the radios country of origin =
from
the cpu, and therefore allows it to transmit out of band, however it =
also
removes the Automatic Repeater Shift (ARS) because not all countries use =
the
same repeater sub-bands.

I spent a couple months in despair trying to make the ARS work until I
noticed one day by accident, thanks to my son hitting the PTT on the =
desk
mic while scanning, that the radio was modded to transmit out of band.  =
I
removed the solder blobs added and that was it.  If you need info on the
default jumper positions for the US config let me know and I can dig =
them
up.
