Bob,

> LL is the lot number
> UUUU is the unit number within the lot.
The FT-1000(D) was produced from 1989 through 2001. Thus
there is some ambiguity in the serial number for those
radios with Serial number 0Mxxxxxx, 1Mxxxxxx and 2Mxxxxxx.
However, the early units had lot numbers (the first two
digits of the "suffix") below "10" while the last units
produced will have lot numbers in the 60s and 70s.
190 to 195 Watts on a Bird Model 43 is within tolerance.
The FT-1000D is rated for 200 Watts output. The Bird 43
has a tolerance of +/- 5% of full scale (anywhere on the
scale). Assuming a 250 Watt element ... the tolerance
is +/- 12 Watts.
Finally, I don't know of any other place on the radio to find
the serial number. It was printed on the original box and on
the stub of the warranty card.
Good luck & enjoy the radio - mine is a 1990 model that was
updated to a "D" by Yaesu USA in 1995.
73,
... Joe, K4IK
