Absolutely. No way the ham market would be large enough to
support development of a specialized CPU. My main point was that
the CPU will be in a box labeled 'radio' rather than in one labeled
'computer.'

That war continues to be fought in the PC arena. It appears that
open and hackable systems dominate early in the game but the
corporate types eventually lock things up, leading to ossification and
possibly revolt? Could there be Linix ham sets? Or maybe there'll
just be people called 'amateurs' doing it from scratch, using the CPU
chip and ideas and designs published in handbooks?
