It is not true that the code has been dropped just
about everywhere!  There are many European countries
that have not dropped it as well as South American,
Asian, and African.  They may do so in the future, but
the trend in Central Europe is to keep the code.

As for learning the code, you just have to convince
yourself that you can learn the code.  If you think
that you cannot learn the code then you won't learn
the code.

I have taught code for almost 44 years and I have
NEVER run into someone who could not learn the code. 
However, until a person admitted to themself that they
could learn the code they did have difficulties.  But,
after they decided that they could learn the code they
did so within a very few weeks!
