[Yaesu] FT-857, FT-897, FT-100D

So far so good here.  Luckily I got mine at a price
that was so good, I could afford to pay for a
repair-hoping I don't need to, though.

I wasn't going to get a FT100D at first because of the
problems associated with it.  Finally broke down and
bought one because of the noise blanker.  It actually
works.  I have power line noise (I believe) here, and
the power company so far has been worthless in finding
it and eliminating it.  Tried the Timewave ANC4, with
no difference.  The NB in the FT100D eliminates almost
all of it.  GOes from S6 to nothing.  

So, if my choice is between running a FT100D with its
potential problems, and listening to S6 static
constantly, it isn't much of a choice.  hopefully
someday the power company will actually fix things,
and then I might have a little more freedom of choice
in radios.

I will say that the FT100D has an excellent receiver
for its size.  Very comparable to the receiver in the
Icom 746 I used to have.  Paid 3 times more for the
746 also.
