[Yaesu] FT-1500 2m mobile help wanted

Ladies and Gentlemen:

First, Happy New Year to all hams and XYLs.

I'm mulling over getting the ADMS programming software for my FT-1500 2m rig.  Has anyone used this software?
Where do you get the cable for this locally? Rat Shack?
Any problems using it?
I picture having to pull the rig from the truck, set up on a gel-cell battery, bring it next to the computer and dump a data file into it.  Is that how it works?
