[Yaesu] VX5R question

I have found a good deal on a used Yaesu VX5R, and am
seriously thinking of getting it.  I won't be able to
afford a second battery for a little while, though. 
Can someone tell me how long it takes the charge the
battery in the VX5R, using the radio's charger.  I am
thinking that it was only a couple of hours, but am
not sure.  Also, how does the stock antenna perform on
2 meters and 70cm?  I am going to need to get a better
aftermarket antenna just to use around town?
