[Yaesu] FT-900 Mobil?

I Had a FT-900/CAT in my Ford Crown Victoria mounted on a telescoping Cell
Phone mount which was screwed into the transmission hump. The FT-900's
small plastic bracket was directly screwed into the 4-hole telescoping
mounts top plate, then placed at about 90 degrees, for readability. I
mounted the RF unit in the trunk, on a piece of plywood along with my
remotely mounted Kenwood VHF transmitter. I used the Yaesu separation kit,
and a speaker mounted near the control head.

The radio's head was in a good position for tuning across the dial as it was
at seat top level, so you could keep your hand on the seat and just twist
the dial. I really liked this radio, along with a screwdriver antenna.
Sorry I do not have any pictures to send you. By the way, the Yaesu
FT-900/CAT is a very quiet radio. Really good for mobile DX'ing.

My only problem now is where am I going to put a HF & VHF setup in my Toyota
Avalon? The Avalon is one with the fancy console, having almost no room for
add-ons. Perhaps a modification to the ash tray to hold a Kenwood remote
head on a 2000 would do.

Anyone using a -900 in their vehicle?

How did you mount it?

How well do you find its egonoomics for mobil use?

Did you use the separation kit?
