Let me add that about 8-10 years ago, an Alexander dealer(?) used to
sell FT-530 battery packs (amongst others) at a few hamfests back East.
Even though he was based in New Jersey one dealer came down to Timonium
and Gaithersburg (Maryland) hamfests. Those packs have served me well.
A few months after buying one pack some of the ultrasonic welds were not
holding and I showed this to the gentleman at the next 'fest. He gladly
gave me a new pack - no receipt needed. By about 1995 I stopped seeing
the Alexander Battery folks at the local hamfests and I'm sorry for that.
Another company that I've bought from were the folks at BatteriesAmerica
(BA). I bought a NiMH (1800mAh) pack for my Ft-530 from them as well
as a charger that would handle my other NiCd packs as well. I'm about
to purchase another to replace one of my aging and ailing Alexander packs.
The packs from these two companies have fit my very early FT-530 to a Tee.
I looked at what W&W had to offer when I was at the Timoninum 'fest
a few weeks ago. I couldn't get what I wanted from these folks and I
wasn't real happy with the way the sales critter treated me. It's off
to BA I go...
Just my $0.02...
