Hello.
I'm new to this list. It looks like I may soon (a week or so) be receiving
a NIB (new in box) VR-5000 receiver with the DSP module. I'm looking
forward to using this as it'll be my first "DC to daylight" receiver. Up to
this time my receivers have nearly all been Longwave/shortwave models with a
couple scanners for VHF/UHF thrown in.

So far I've done a modest amount of "web search" for information on this
set. It appears that it is a receiver that one either Loves or hates with
little middle ground. It also appears that as time has gone by the "loves"
have increased in ratio, with many of the earlier owners dissatisfied, some
changing their opinions over time.

I'd be interested in hearing comments, good or bad from anyone using this
receiver. I expect that I'll be using it about 50% on longwave CW mode, (I
have an excellent homebrewed LW filter/preamp) with the remaining 50%
divided among the Medium wave, Shortwave and VHF/UHF bands.

I realize the rather broad filters aren't the best for CW work, but expect
that the 25 and 100Hz bandwidths of the DSP will help offset that (if the
AGC doesn't get "pumped" by nearby signals). Comments?
