I have an SB 200 which I have had since 1973 when I built it. About a
year ago I installed all of the Harbach mods and I can say they work
very well. I do strongly suggest you consider installing at least the
soft key mod. The relay voltage and current is pretty high and will
probably do in the FT-847 relay contacts in short order without it. And
frankly those amps are of an age where I think new caps, etc. are just
good insurance. The soft start is nice as well. I also got the new fan
and relay but am saving them against the day when they may be needed.

Subject: [Yaesu] FT-847 With SB-201 Question.
Hello Yaesu List Members,
I just purchased a Heatkit SB-201 amp that I want to run with my=20
FT-847. The amp is in beautiful condition, running on 110 V, and the
ten=20
meters mod has been done. At first look it isn't apparent that any of
the=20
recommended 201 mods (Harbach, AC6K) have been made to this amp. This
amp=20
has been in recent usage with a TS-830. My main concern at this point
is=20
do I need to install the soft-key mod on amp before trying to run it
with=20
the 847? For what it's worth my set up on the 847 is a Carolina Windom
80=20
Special and a MFJ 941D Versa Tuner II. I will have to use one of my
other=20
legal limit antenna tuners with this arrangement. I sure don't want to=20
hook this amp up to my 847 before I'm sure that it won't damage the
radio=20
without, at least, the soft-key mod.
Thanks.
73,
Gary - W6GVS
