Tom,
When I was looking to purchase a New Transceiver a few years ago. I
mentioned it to a friend who had been on many DXpeditions, and He advised Me
to buy the FT920 over the FT1000MP. He said He preferred the 920 on
DXpeditions and said they were a Great Radio. When I went to buy a Radio,
the 1000MP & the 920 were next to each other, and the readout on the 1000MP
put Me off it straight away....it was terrible... the FT920 has the OMNIGLOW
readout which I find is Excellent. I love My FT920 [don't tell the XYL] and
its RX so quiet... I have since spoken to many 920 owners and the only
problem is the Tx Power output shown on the Scale. It never shows 100w on
Voice peaks.... thats the only complaint. I have read why this happens - an
answer from Yaesu - but I can't remember what the answer was.... Anyway it
doesn't really matter. It Works Great. You won't be disappointed, I can
guarantee that, and You don't have to be a Rocket Scientist to use it.....
Hi Hi.... Although I haven't been very active the past 5 years[due to
illness], I still just press 21 to go to 21MHz etc... I haven't used any of
the frequency memories yet.... Don't forget You can monitor Your own voice
all the time... and change the frequencies of Your Voice .... [NO Humphry
Bogarts or Clark Gable voices though] its still Your Voice Hi Hi...
Anyway its an EXCELLENT Choice of Radio..... and Many People can't work out
, How it is So Much more inexpensive than the 1000MP... and yet be SO
GOOD.!!!
