Tom,

As with computers, the question would be "What will you use the transceiver
for?". I spoke to the head of a DXpedition team who was given FT-1000MP's
and FT-1000D'S and FT-920's for their DXPedition. He told me that the 920
was used once and sat on the floor for the rest of the trip. So, for casual
ragchew, checking into nets, and perhaps some DXing, it would clearly be OK.
For those who love contesting and serious DXing, perhaps the FT-1000 series
would be a better choice. I haven't checked prices lately, but isn't the
FT-1000MP Mark V FIELD somewhere in the same price range as the 920?

I have an FT-1000D and love it, but I have had no experience with the 920.
