The FT-1000D is simply the best rig out there. I wonder how well the Mark V
compares, but it's just not worth the risk of spending the money for
something that isn't as good.
I have heard similar things about the 756PRO that you mention. Lots of
clicks and unnatural sound. So this is not the first time I have heard
this.
The 1000D is so good on CW, that I don't even use my external Timewave DSP
any more with it! I'd bought the Timewave before the 1000D and still use it
on RTTY but rarely on CW or SSB.
