[Yaesu] Same problem in the FT 1000D and older FT 980

I have two older FT 980's and have the same problem that has been noticed on
the FT 1000D.  I have Heil Boom mic sets (2 BM-10's and one ProMicro).  All
three stereo plugs
do not make good contact in the phone jack on both 980's and on a FT 1000D I
used at a multi op several years ago.  They all work Ok on a newer FT 920
and an ICOM so its the Yaesu jack that is the problem.  The 980 and 1000D
use a different set up as the key jack is on the back of the 980.

I also have a Yaesu headset and a Telex Hy-Gain Contester boom mic set that
work fine with the 980's.

Any ideas???    The only thing I notice is the barrel of the Heil's is not
the same size as a normal stereo plug (1/4").  They are bigger than the .208
plug required for Collins and Drake.
