Our radio club awards the Len Wells Ham Spirit Trophy annually to a club
member who displayed exceptional Ham spirit during the year by serving the
club, club members or the general Ham community. The recipient is selected
from nominations submitted during the year and is presented with the trophy
at the club AGM.

The trophy is a floating trophy and the recipient's name and callsign is
engraved on the base of the cup. The recipient also receives an engraved
miniature version of the cup which remains his/her property.

The Ham Spirit Trophy is not necessarily awarded to a person who does the
most, or works the hardest. The trophy is often awarded to an individual
who performed a single exceptional deed during the year.

Bob Curry's unselfish assistance is indeed such an exceptional deed, which
would certainly award him our Ham Spirit Trophy.

Bravo to all those ambassadors of the hobby.

| I wanted to throw some credit to a nice person by the name of Bob Curry,
| KC3VO.
|
| Not only did he answer my original post but he actually stopped by on his
way
| back from Dayton to have a look at the patient. He drove out of his way
about
| an hour to help out on an already long trip back to D.C.
| In a couple of hours he had the rig cooking again. Turns out there was a
bad
| connection in a filter that he was able to correct.
|
| This kind of action is what makes amateur radio a nice hobby and helps to
| counteract some of the garbage that we occasionally encounter on the
bands.
|
| Thanks also to Angel KP4TE for a lot of input, a gentleman from England,
| and another person that I would like to give credit to but I lost my AOL
| filing cabinet and the notes sent.
|
| Have fun,
|
| 73 Bob
