In general all the Yaesu rigs have sensitivity drops of approximately 6-12
db between 1800 kc and 1799.99 kc, with another 12-24 db drop between 530
and 529.99 kc. This is done to reduce images problems on the SW frequencies.
I am able to copy LW broadcast and air nave beacons easily on my FT-840 and
FT-990 down to 162 kc, with my 80 foot high 160 meter Tee antenna.
