[Yaesu] VLF sensetivity of FT-900 and FT-817

Does anyone know how well the FT-900 or the FT-817 work for
VLF receive sensetivity?  I'm trying to hear stations 
between 136KHz and 190KHz.  I'm not hearing anything and
I want to narrow down if it's my antenna (32 turn shielded
loop) or the rigs.  Neither rig hears much there.  Might
be the antenna.

I've heard it said that VLF performance of normal ham rigs
varies drastically from brand to brand and model to model.
Anyone know about these two?  Might have to build a
transverter.
