[Yaesu] FT990 muddy CW sidetone from SP6

Hi all!

Something that's been bothering me for some time. When I operate CW
listening thru the SP6 speaker the CW sidetone is muddy - making it
difficult to operate my paddle. CW elements sort of run-together if that
makes any sense. It sounds great thru headphones connected to either the
headphone jack on the SP6 or the radio itself. I don't think the received
audio is affected.

Any ideas?
