I will not cut my nose to spite my face.  I am buying another FT-817 for
my car.  As a QRPer and someone who needs something extra small to fit
in the console of my Escape, there simply isn't anything else that comes
close.

BTW, Kenwood service is no better.  Icom may be marginally better.  If
you want service you need to stick with smaller companies (i.e.: Ten Tec
or Patcomm in the US, Tokyo Hy-Power in Japan).  The big three are all
arrogant.  Still, if they make unique and exceptional products, you have
to make a decision of what you are willing to put up with.

So... I'm still buying Yaesu, and hoping I don't need service during the
warranty period.
