Hi John -

Your comments on modern vs 'old' HF radios is quite valid. Folks
chase the latest and greatest without knowing why. Many are
slaves to advertising and peer pressure.

Your assessment of the FT102 is very accurate. It was a radio
that was way ahead of its time. The receiver was without peer at
the time and is, on spec, still a killer.

My one major complaint is all those relays. The transition from
RX to TX was quite a ker-chunk! One thing not mentioned was that
for attractiveness, the FT102 was darn near without equal. The
FT102 was probably the 'MP' of its day (owned both, I know of
what I speak) and would still today put a number of modern
transceivers to shame.
