I had a "no-output" problem with a Kenwood TM-231A, and it turned out to be 
a thin crack in the silver strip-line inside the PA module.  The black 
rectangular cover just popped off, and with the aid of magnifying binoculars 
I was able to spot the crack.  I gently resoldered it with silver solder and 
it worked as good as new.  Just a thought.  I would go ahead and spray-clean 
and rock the pots first though.  Easier.
