[Yaesu] NB in FT920 vs NB in FT100D

I have had my 920 for four years and I have found the NB to work
excellent.
Unlike some NB's I don't get the splatter/distortion from nearby strong
stations when the NB is engaged like I do with the TS-50, the FT-890 or
the Alinco DX-70 I have.
The 920's NB is variable but I seldom have to turn it off the fully CCW
position.
A recent example of it's merit, my next door neighbor put some cows in
my back pasture and used a fence charger without my knowledge running
right under my Hygain AV-620 vertical. Instant S-9 noise. I hit the NB
button and instant S-0. Even though the NB works fine, the fence charger
had to go.
I had been thinking of getting the FT-100D for mobile use and was
wondering if the NB on the 100D was as good as the 920.
Also the DSP on the 920 does not sound watery like the TS-570 or the
Clear Speech speaker. The variable DSP also allows you to cut that
crappy resonance from those "hi-fi" stations. Balancing the DSP, noise
reduction and RF gain controls; you can make 75 meters in the summer
sound like FM. My XYL said "that=92s the best sounding radio you=92ve =
had".
Need I say more! =20
You will enjoy the 920. Two other hams in my area have purchased 920's
after they heard mine and had their hands on it. One of them taped me on
the air using a mini-disk and brought it over. The 920 sounds broadcast
quality with the MD-100 mic. The hand mike almost sounds as good.
Hope this helps you John,

Subject: [Yaesu] NB in FT920 vs NB in FT100D
Looking at possibly getting a Yaesu FT920. I
currently have a Yaesu FT100D, and have found that the
NB is excellent in it. It is one of the reasons I
picked out this radio. It takes out the line noise I
have at the QTH, in a way that is nothing short of
remarkable.
Has anyone compared a FT100D to a FT920 in terms of
the NB? Are they close to comparable? I don't want
to get a FT920, and then have to listen to noise most
of the time. That is why I got rid of my Icom 746.=20
Can I expect similar performance to the FT100D out of
the FT920, in terms of removing noise with the NB?
Any comments, good or bad, will be appreciated.
73s John NE0P
