The National Weather ServiceLos Angeles/Oxnard, CA amateur radio station, WX6LOX, will be active from 0900– 1600 PST (1700Z – 2359Z) on Saturday, December 1st , 2018 toparticipate in US Skywarn Recognition Day. WX6LOX will be active at 520 NorthElevar St, Oxnard, CA in Grid DM04ke. Visitors are welcome! Primary EventCoordinator is Stu, AG6AG.



High Frequency bands to beactivated include 80, 40, 20, 15 meters SSB/CW. One Off Center Fed Dipole orsimilar will be used.



VHF/UHF operations will on the2 meter & 70 cm bands. 2 meter operations will be conducted on 146.52 MHzFM Simplex, 144.200 MHz USB/CW and some local repeaters. 70 cm operations willbe held on 446.0 MHz FM Simplex, 432.100 MHz USB/CW and some local repeaters.Power level will be 20 watts and the antenna will be an omnidirectionalvertical with some gain. 



EchoLink and IRLP might also beutilized.



All stations participatingshould exchange callsign, signal report, location, and a quick description ofthe weather at your location e.g.: partly cloudy & windy.



Eventcertificates are electronic and printable from the main website at theconclusion of SRD. Submit SRD log summaries using the onlinesubmission form



SKYWARN™Recognition Day (SRD) 2018 takesplace on Saturday, December 1, from 0000 until 2400 UTC. Developed in 1999 by theNational Weather Service (NWS) and ARRL, SRD celebrates the contributions thatSKYWARN volunteers make to the NWS mission, the protection of life andproperty. During SKYWARN Recognition Day, special event stations will be on theair from NWS offices, contacting radio amateurs around the world.



“Amateur Radiooperators comprise a large percentage of the SKYWARN volunteers across thecountry,” the NWS announcement said. “Amateur Radio operators also providevital communication between the NWS and emergency management, if normalcommunications become inoperative.”
