I have confirmed that, attempting the alignment procedure in the RX unit on the 736 one of the adjustments is not possible given the way the radio (or THIS specific 736) is wired....resulting in the RX bandpass being shifted off frequency.

At any rate, any clarification you might be able to give me as to operating conditions and your observations of Mikes transceiver would be appreciated.
