[Wswss] Is anyone using a Kenwood TS-2000X on 2m and above?

Hello Jim,

I use a TS2000X on 6 m and above.  I replaced an FT-726R and an IC1271 with the TS2000X.  I check into K6TSK's Friday night 1296 net with it and also use it for contests and even cw on 6 m.  The only complaint I have is the lack of preamp power control that the IC1271 provided.  An external sequencer is probably necessary to switch preamps safely.  The noise blanker is kind of useless compared to the TS-590 but the auto-notch and DNR helps with all the hetrodynes on 6 m from all the neighborhood computers and other cheap digital junk electronics.

Hello everyone,

I'm strongly considering selling my Yaesu FT-847 toward the purchase of
a Kenwood TS-2000X, for a few reasons.

First, the 100w on 2m and 50w on 432 MHz would be an improvement.
Also, with this model of the TS-2000, coverage of the 1.2 GHz band is
built-in, so no messing with a transverter is necessary.
Finally, the FT-847 is getting long in the tooth, technologically speaking.

The FT-847 is essentially factory-new, minus the box.  I bought it back
in 2001 after attending a satellite seminar, then never became
interested in that aspect of amateur radio and never used it.

I'd appreciate anyone's opinion.  If I get more positives than
negatives, the FT-847 will be for sale.

Thanks in advance an 73 de Jim - AD6CW
